Today was the end of the month, and I was reviewing the goals I had set for Sepetember in job and various other areas. I hit some of them, some I made it halfway through with a lot of promise for next month and some I don't even remember setting them, if you know what I mean.:)

On this note, long time back I remember reading in one of the Sherlock Holmes' stories (good book for GRE, you know.. lot of good words) , his explanation about two types of reasoning called the "synthetic reasoning" and the "analyitcal reasoning". You see, lot of people, if given a chain of events, can tell what the end result is going to be. That is called "synthetic Reasoning". But very few people can tell the sequence of events and the root cause, given the end result, and that is called "analytical reasoning". Although this "analytics" is done everyday in fields of science and engineering and so on, we really do not do that in daily life, do we?

Now, applying that to GOALS, instead of setting a sequence of events and "expecting" a result to happen ( that's what we do most of the time), what if we start with the end result, and work backwards. You fix your goal as the "end result" and then work back wards and draw out steps which might have caused that thing to happen. And behold, you have a game plan.

Sounds very intelligent. huh! However, if you noticed, there is one catch in this. The catch is that, for this to work, you will have to be more than 100% sure of the "result ( goal)", as if it has already happened. Sherlock holmes, had atleast one end of the mystery fixed. But with this, you have both the ends open and you will have really be able to believe the result.

Now that is something we find it very hard to do, isn't it?

Alright... I was thinking of what to post today...so wanted to do something different. Does any of you have one of those people who just have small tryst with you and create some good impact... but then disappaear... I am not talking about the people with whom you have long term relationships and friendships.....

Well, the first person I can remember in this category is a girl called KV Swapna, I used to study with in 5th class ( now don't get any ideas! this is not an infatuation story...sorry). I really don't remember too much from that time, but the only thing I remember being impressed was how calm and composed she used to be all the time. It was not that she was shy or less speaking.. its just that she seemed to know how to act in every given scenario. In fact, once I remember, one of my friends and I were making so much noise in the class, the teacher made me sit beside this girl for almost a month so that I can learn to be calm. But after 5th class, their family moved away to some other place and I have NEVER heard of her again. I do not know if she is still the same way but I have ever been trying to develop that quality of serenity and calmness, without too much success, :)

The second person was this guy called Kiran. In my engineering days, I went for aorund 2-3 months to learn keyboard. and obviously i hated practicing those lessons which the tutor gave us. I wanted to learn playing songs right away and impress the hell out of everybody. But i was dependent on somebody to teach me how to play each song ( and that savior was the tutor's son, who could play ANY song on keyboard and guitar). Now after 2-3 months of my joining, this Kiran guy joined. And for some reason we became instant friends. He already knew how to compose songs on his own and I remember asking him why he joined the class then. He just smiled and said, just to learn the "actual" way of playing songs. Anyways, he was the one who kind of inspired me to try and do songs on my own on the keyboard. And after 15-20 days he stopped coming to the class and 1 week after that I also stopped gooing because of exams or something and after that completely left the class. And I have never heard of him again either.

Well, if by any chance either of you two people read this blog, do not hesitate to contact me. I would love to meet you people again. For the rest of you.. happy reading!!

In my next post, I will write about some of the teachers who have influenced me the most. Until then good bye.

Today I was on Orkut and fell into nostalgia about all my old friends. Just like any other college buddies, we used to have a lot of fun. Sitting at Mehdipatnam bus stop, birthday parties at Bake Magic, bunking classes to play the carrom board in sports room, eating that hot puri for Rs.5/- every day morning and drinking that stupid chai in college canteen and so on. Lots of memories.

Where are all these people? I don;t know! looks like everybody is lost in the flow of life, too busy to regroup or reassociate themselves with these memories. Does this happen with every college group? I am not sure. Of all the people, I think I have contact only with FEW who have been with me right from school days.

God! it is so unbelievable that when in college we ( atleast I) tend to think that rest of life will be similar, same friends etc., Could I ever be so wrong? If I look at my life in the last 5-6 years it has taken so many twists which I could never see coming back then.

Anyways, logging on to Orkut just shook the dust off the memory room and I thought it would be good to post about it.

Well, finally I have decided to take the plunge and start writing this blog. In fact, the reason for not wiriting the blog all these days has been a indecision whether to write a handwritten diary or an impersonal blog on the net. After almost and year of doing neither, I have decided that I will start somewhere.

Well, in the past some weeks I have watched some really good movies ( all old though).... Vanilla sky, John Q ( man Denzel Washington is awesome), Pay it Forward and Memento ( our telugu/tamil Ghajini remake :)). I always wonder how do these guys get these ideas? and why our guys won;t get them? Or is it our Indian audience won;t understand unless you make it too simple? From the Vanilla Sky which takes the concept of "dreaming" to the "pay it forward" which takes a very simple idea and tries to implement it ( although I thought they made it too localized).

Anyways, had a nice time watching these movies which make you think. I also watched "inside man" , but did not understand what was so great about the plot. I am not actually able to remember who recommended that movie to me. I will ask them if I remember.

Gotta go to work tomorrow. Its amazing how work life gets so familiar within 2 years of starting your career.

Well, that was my first post.. will try to keep it running.
